Absence of CCTV Cameras at IGI Airport Emerges as a Security Risk
The negligence shown by authorities in setting up CCTV cameras outside the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport is creating severe security risk for visitors. The Delhi International Airport (P) Limited has shown negligent attitude in fixing CCTV cameras outside the Terminal 3 of the IGI airport. This has caused huge security risk for the people visiting the airport. A police officer states that the CCTV cameras installed at IGI are not useful. According to him, some of the installed cameras are not functioning properly while others are not fixed at correct angles. Due to this, it has become very difficult to monitor security at IGI.
Sources disclose that during the last three months, three robberies took place at Terminal 3 of IGI airport. Till now, the police has not been able to nab the accused as their images were not recorded on the CCTV cameras set up outside the terminal or those installed alongside the road that moves along the gates of the terminal.
However, this plan of hiring a new security agency is likely to instil fear among the present private security guards employed by the university. This is because the services of these guards would no longer be needed by the university and then they would have to look for jobs under any other security agency.
