Punjab University Campus Students Council Seeks Deployment of Female
Security Guards
The Punjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) has reportedly presented a memorandum to the dean, students` welfare, asking for deployment of female security guards outside the principal library during night-time. In the memorandum, the Council also asked for the restoration of the public washroom at the Student Centre as well as new machines and repairing of old machines installed in girls` hostels and sought several other facilities.
The PUCSC submitted the memorandum as a part of its attempt to receive feedback from hostellers when the "PUCSC at your doorstep" campaign was going on in the university.
Chandan Rana, the President of PUCSC reveals that the dean, students' welfare (DSW) has agreed to solve all issues mentioned in the memorandum. He states that the DSW has agreed to deploy a permanent female security guard at the library for ensuring safety of girls during the night. Furthermore, Rana mentions that many girls are seen studying in the library during night-time. He adds that there should be a lady security guard to ensure the security of the girls at night. Hence, according to him, a female security guard should be instantly deployed at the library.
