Helicopter Pilots` Body Complains To Authorities on Negligent Security at Helipads
According to a new revelation, the head body of helicopter pilots has written to aviation authorities complaining about the careless security arrangements at Juhu airstrip and other helipads. The Rotary Wing Society of India (RWSI) has dashed off a letter to aviation controller DGCA, mentioning that there is lack of security staff at helipads to carry out security checking of VIPs, most particularly politicians and their baggage. It is the duty of the pilots to search the VIPs, a majority of whom reject to cooperate with security checking. However, the VIPs also tend to alter the list of passengers accompanying them at the last moment and this makes it really difficult for the pilots to carry out security-related checks.
It is feared that the lack of strong security at the helipads could facilitate unlawful transportation of arms and cash throughout the election period.
